'I myself have been facing such insults for 20 years'- PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi, President Draupadi Murmu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla have expressed deep grief over TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee mocking of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Regarding the insult to the Vice President, President Draupadi Murmu wrote on Twitter, "I am deeply saddened by the way the Honorable Vice President was insulted in the Parliament premises".

Assembly Speaker Om Birla met Dhankhar and expressed concern over the insult to the constitutional post. Posting on social media platform X, the Vice President said that he “spoke to PM Modi on telephone. He expressed grief over the disgusting drama of some MPs in the sacred Parliament complex. He told me that he has been suffering this kind of insult for the last twenty years. It is unfortunate that this happens in the Parliament of India with a constitutional post like the Vice President”

The Vice President further wrote in his post, 'I told him (PM Modi) that the actions of some people cannot stop me from performing my duty and maintaining the principles enshrined in our Constitution. I am wholeheartedly committed to those values. No insult can force me to change my course.”

Thanking the president, Dhankar wrote on X "Thank you Rashtrapati Ji for your kind words and the timely reminder that basic courtesies must always remain. I am committed to upholding Constitutional principles till my last breath. No insults can prevent me from doing so"
