Himanta predicts NDA's win in 22 of 25 seats in the NE

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that the ruling BJP-led alliance is expected to win 22 of the Northeast's 25 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming Loksabha elections. Speaking during a press conference in Guwahati, Sarma said that only three of Assam's 14 seats are now undecided.

"The NDA is predicted to win 22 of the 25 seats in the northeast. Apart from Assam, we expect victory in all other states in the area," he stated.

As leader of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), the regional wing of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Sarma voiced confidence that the ruling coalition would easily win the next Lok Sabha elections.

He emphasised, "This time, development is the only problem. Significant efforts have been made to improve the general infrastructure of the region." The Chief Minister stated that the BJP-led alliance intends to gain 11 seats in Assam.

"We may enhance our number of seats in the state to 12 if the people of Assam bestow additional blessings on us. However, it will not exceed that figure. Nonetheless, winning margins are projected to be significant in all seats this time," he noted. Sarma further stated that the Election Commission of India's delimitation of constituencies in Assam will ensure that indigenous people hold 105 of the state's 126 assembly seats.
