A sensational and historical development is happening in the political landscape of Pakistan. Dr Saveera Parkash, a Hindu woman from Buner district in the tribal dominant province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, has filed her nomination for upcoming elections. The country's National Assembly elections are scheduled for February 8, 2024 by its national election commission PEC.
Dr. Saveera Parkash, a distinguished member of the minority (Hindu) community, is set to produce history as the first woman contesting for assembly elections from constituency PK- 25 on a general seat. The choices, listed for February 8, mark a significant stride towards inclusivity and representation in the region. Saveera Parkash, having also submitted nomination papers for both reserved seats of the National and Provincial assemblies, is combined with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), a political association she and her family has been associated with for last 35 years.
The PPP, recognizing her eventuality, prompted her father, Dr. Om Parkash. He not only a professional Doctor, also an active political and social worker, brings his daughter into the political arena. Dr Om Parkash, a retired Doctor from Khyber Paktunkhwa province, famed for his fidelity to the weal of humanity, has played a vital part in serving both public and private sector health centers. Expressing sanguinity about entering the PPP's sanctioned ticket, Dr. Saveera Parkash is hopeful that her training will serve as a catalyst for increased women participation in politics, especially in policy expression. In her appeal to the youth, she emphasized their eventuality to reshape the political dynamics of the country.
Saveera recently (2022) graduated from Abbottabad International Medical College with a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She isn't only a trailblazer in politics but also an applicant for Competitive Examinations, particularly the Central Superior Services.
Dr Saveera Parkash said in a interview that she would focus on prioritizing the socio- profitable upliftment of women. She also asserted that her efforts would contribute significantly to public growth. She believes that increased womanish participation in politics is vital for reshaping the socio- profitable dynamics of the country. The decision by PPP's elderly leadership to convert Dr. Om Parkash to bring his daughter into politics from Buner segment is being hailed as a major event, marking a turning point in the political geography of the region.
Election Commission of Pakistan (PEC) recently amended the laws over inclusion of 5 percent women candidates in general seats, reflecting efforts to enhance gender representation in the political landscape. In the present election around 3000 woman candidates filed their nomination papers in out of 28600 candidates.
