Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced a series of relief measures for the family of the minor schoolgirl who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Suryapur, Baruipur. As part of the state government's assistance, the victim's father has been given a government job in the Prisons Department, while the family has also received financial support.

The alleged rape and murder of the 11-year-old girl sparked widespread outrage across West Bengal after her body was recovered from a pond in Suryapur on 5th July. The incident triggered protests in the area, with angry residents staging demonstrations and blocking railway tracks. Following the incident, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari assured the bereaved family that the state government would stand by them and ensure justice.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister visited the office of the Baruipur Superintendent of Police, where he met the victim's family, heard their grievances and directed senior police officials to take appropriate administrative measures. Four accused have been arrested in connection with the case. One of the accused, Prabhas Mondal, was killed in a police encounter during the reconstruction of the crime scene. Responding to the family's request, the Chief Minister later inaugurated a full-fledged police outpost in Suryapur and announced that the entire locality would be brought under CCTV surveillance to strengthen security.

Speaking during the inauguration of the police outpost, Suvendu Adhikari said that the custody, trial, conviction and execution process in the case would be monitored at the Chief Minister's level to ensure that an exemplary precedent is set. He added that the government had certain responsibilities towards the family and had extended assistance after receiving their consent. He also stated that the details of the government's support would be disclosed by the family at an appropriate time.

The victim's father later confirmed that he had been offered a government job. He said he was still coping with the trauma of his daughter's death and would join the Prisons Department once he was mentally prepared.

The Chief Minister also addressed the subsequent mob lynching of Indrajit, stating that he was completely innocent. During another visit to Baruipur, Adhikari provided financial assistance to Indrajit's family and offered his elder brother a job as a civic volunteer. Alleging that Indrajit had been targeted because of his identity, the Chief Minister said all those visible in video footage had been arrested, including suspects traced from Bakkhali and Digha.

Police have arrested eight people in connection with the mob lynching. According to officials, cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for unlawful assembly, creating public disorder, obstructing public servants, voluntarily causing injuries and murder through mob lynching. The investigation is continuing to identify others allegedly involved. Separately, Lahek Ali, the CPI(M) candidate from Baruipur West, has been arrested in connection with a case related to spreading unrest.
