The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to intensify its public outreach in the national capital with a major foot march through Old Delhi on Wednesday, launching a direct political response to the Congress-led INDIA bloc’s campaign over electoral roll revisions. The march, titled Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy), reflects the BJP’s effort to present its position on democratic institutions, electoral integrity and opposition-led protests directly to the public.

Led by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, the padayatra is scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm from Shri Jain Lal Mandir near the Red Fort and proceed towards Town Hall Chowk in Chandni Chowk. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, party MPs, senior leaders and supporters are expected to participate. The proposed route covers approximately one kilometre, making the event a concentrated public mobilisation exercise in one of the capital’s prominent commercial and historic neighbourhoods.

The BJP has positioned the march as a response to what it describes as confrontational political tactics adopted by the Congress and its allies. Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra has criticised the opposition’s frequent demonstrations and argued that political disagreements should not undermine public confidence in democratically elected institutions. The party intends to use the march to communicate its arguments on the current political controversy and challenge the opposition’s narrative.

The timing is significant, as the Congress-led INDIA bloc is preparing to hold its Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1. The BJP, meanwhile, has defended its position on the issue and sought to counter the opposition’s allegations through public engagement.

The Delhi programme forms part of a broader BJP campaign involving padayatras across several states. Rather than limiting its response to statements and press conferences, the party is mobilising senior leaders to take its message to the streets and engage with citizens on electoral processes and democratic governance.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to participate in the campaign in Hyderabad on November 2 and Karnal in Haryana on November 5. Other senior BJP leaders and chief ministers are also expected to lead marches in their respective regions. The wider initiative signals the party’s intention to sustain its public outreach beyond the immediate Delhi political contest.

With both the BJP and the INDIA bloc preparing large-scale public programmes, the coming days are likely to see heightened political exchanges over electoral transparency, institutional accountability and the interpretation of democratic mandates. The competing campaigns will provide each side with an opportunity to put forward its position before the public as the debate over the SIR exercise continues.
