The BJP is demanding a CBI inquiry into allegations that party state president of Karnataka BY Vijayendra offered Rs 150 crore to former Minority Commission chairperson Anwar Manippady. The allegations were made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and RDPR Minister Priyank Kharge.
According to Kharge, Vijayendra offered the bribe to Manippady to prevent him from raising the issue of Waqf land encroachment. Manippady had submitted a report on the encroachment of Waqf land in Karnataka and the involvement of several Congress leaders in it.
Vijayendra has denied the allegations, calling them "baseless." He challenged Siddaramaiah to order a CBI inquiry, but also demanded that the probe cover Waqf land encroachment and the MUDA scam.
The issue has sparked heated arguments between BJP and Congress legislators. Assembly Opposition Leader R Ashoka accused Kharge of making allegations without prior notice. Kharge responded that his statement was based on Manippady's interview and other media reports.
The BJP is seeking a CBI probe to clear its name and to investigate the allegations of Waqf land encroachment and the MUDA scam. The party is confident that the truth will come out through a fair and impartial investigation
