Besides the BJP’s national leaders, over 200 campaigners from other states have been deployed in the VIP constituency of 2024 general elections – Varanasi. Party’s main target is to weed out hurdles from Narendra Modi’s path, prompting many to wonder why he needs such aggressive campaigning for a seat that he has been winning since 2014. Big wigs and star campaigners composed as a cross-country team of senior leaders from the BJP is working to ensure the Narendra Modi – not only polls a record number of votes but also wins by a record margin.

Varanasi's Southern Communities in Focus:

A key canvassing point for the group is the burgeoning south Indian community who live, work and study in Varanasi. The multi-ethnic population, the 200-odd ashrams and old-age homes that house tens of thousands of voters in the temple town are on the BJP’s wish list.

BJP Attempts to Woo Telugu Voters for Modi:

The leaders from southern states, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, have joined forces in Varanasi, and they campaigning in support of Narendra Modi's re-election bid. The leaders, including Union Minister & Telangana BJP State President G. Kishan Reddy, Rajya Sabha Member & BJP OBC Morcha National Presient K. Laxman, senior leaders Etala Rajender,  Bandi Sanjay, GVL Narasimha Rao, D.K. Aruna are all working towards ensuring Modi's victory in the final phase of polling in Varanasi on June 1.

Varanasi’s strong Telugu community is in the focus of the BJP’s mega poll strategy to reach out to people hailing from all southern states for its goal of ‘Ab ki baar,…Aath lakh paar,’ victory by a margin of eight lakh votes for Narendra Modi.

Hindutva Face Madhavi Latha is a Special Attraction:

Hyderabad BJP candidate Madhavi Latha is a special attraction in ongoing campaign in Varanasi as well. Although she is no match for AIMIM leader and five-time Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Madhavi has been presented in Varanasi as a symbol of resistance against the “rise of Muslims in politics”.

The BJP’s Varanasi district unit organised several meetings of Madhavi and introduced her as “a highly educated social worker, protector of Hindu Dharma, chairperson of several charitable trusts and Bharat Natyam dancer”. She mostly spoke about “the positive changes in Kashmir” under Modi’s rule.

Chandrababu & Pawan Kalyan Present in Nomination Rally:

Narendra Modi’s nomination filing ceremony witnessed a confluence of prominent NDA leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and various regional allies, underlining the strong support for Modi's candidacy. Leaders like Nara Chandrababu Naidu, TDP supremo, expressed unshakeable confidence in NDA's victory, predicting over 400 seats for the alliance and a clean sweep in Andhra Pradesh. Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, echoing similar sentiments, praised Modi's leadership and predicted a clear NDA win in Andhra Pradesh.
