At a Hul Day programme at Mukutmanipur in Bankura, the Bengal CM raised several important issues related to tribal development. He said, “This time, the BJP government has got the opportunity to officially observe Hul Day. Let the struggle for water, land and rights be established. No one gave you recognition; Atalji gave you recognition. We want you not to sit below us, but beside us. You too should come forward to build a developed India. In this cabinet, we have made several tribal leaders ministers so that your development can be established.”

Along with this, Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari also took a dig at the previous government over tribal development. He said, “During the previous government’s tenure, they did not allow any programme to be held here for you. They did not provide land for Eklavya schools. The Trinamool government insulted Droupadi Murmu.”

Suvendu Adhikari also mentioned the benefits tribals will receive after the double-engine government came to power. He said, “We have launched many central government programmes. You will start getting their benefits from August. We are looking at how agriculture and horticulture can be further developed. We have increased the Jai Johar allowance by another Rs 500. We have given a package of Rs 350 crore for the development of tribal areas. For tribal students staying in hostels, the food allowance has been increased to Rs 3,300. The previous government did not provide reservation to tribals. Thousands of fake SC-ST certificates were issued. The department is investigating. Both the person who issued them and the person who received them will be sent to jail. We will not allow fake certificates to be issued in the name of tribals.

CM Suvendu Adhikari said, “In the 2025-26 financial year, work worth only Rs 6 crore was done in 75 blocks of Jungle Mahal. This time, we have allocated Rs 1,200 crore in the budget. There will be massive development in these 75 blocks of Jungle Mahal. We will develop health centres, provide water and build community halls. We have a bigger plan. On one side is Jamshedpur, the industrial city of Jharkhand, and on the other side is Durgapur industrial city. These two can be connected through a 200-km road. In the coming days, we will take this entire region, Purulia and Bankura, to the peak of development.”
