Regarding the recent attacks on the ED and CAPF officials at Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district, the West Bengal government has been asked to provide a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Approximately one thousand supporters of Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan attacked and seriously injured three ED officials. According to sources, the Home Minister Amit Shah was informed by the West Bengal Leader of the Opposition (LoP) about the severity of the situation following the attack.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also reported the attack to the MHA; the armed officers who were with the ED official were also targeted. In a similar vein, the Ministry of Finance has received a separate report from ED.

Governor C.V. Ananda Bose is reportedly studying the joint report about the attack that the ED and CAPF submitted, according to sources. It is expected that the Governor will send his report to President Draupadi Murmu after reviewing the joint report.

The Trinamool leader Sheikh Shahjahan and the attack planner are still in West Bengal, or have they fled to neighbouring Bangladesh? The governor has already asked the state police to clarify this. The governor has also demanded that state police officers who were found to have been careless in their duties during the attack on the ED and CAPF personnel be punished.
