Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, rose to prominence in politics across the country by participating in over 79 election rallies in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. This helped the BJP when the poll results were released on Sunday.

In October and November, Sarma had travelled far and wide to campaign for the party in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana. From September 19 to November 15; Sarma attended 33 meetings in Chhattisgarh, which included two road shows and a press conference.

From September 16 to November 11, he had attended twenty meetings in Madhya Pradesh, including two press conferences. From September 20 to November 23, the chief minister of Rajasthan convened 17 times for election purposes. Aside from that, Sarma had gone to eight Telangana election gatherings, where the BJP had gone from having one to nine representatives.

Sarma posted a message on X “The recent state elections were like pilgrimages for me. It was the first time in my political career that I had travelled extensively outside of the Northeast region and addressed 79 meetings and a few road shows. I feel a sense of rebirth as a proud BJP Karyakarta.”
