Two soldiers from the 'Bastar Fighters' group got hurt when a pressure-based improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Saturday, as per the police.

This incident happened in the Kirandul police station area along the Dantewada-Bijapur district border while a joint team of security forces was on an anti-Naxal operation, an official informed.

The personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters, both units of the state police, along with the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were part of the operation, he mentioned.

While they were cordoning off the forest along the inter-district border, two soldiers from Bastar Fighters accidentally stepped on the pressure IED, causing the explosion that injured them, the official explained.

The two injured soldiers were taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to the state capital for further treatment, he added. Fortunately, the injured soldiers are now stable and out of danger, he further stated.
