Amidst widespread protests by the medical community in response to the RG Kar rape case, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Arup Chakraborty issued a stern warning to doctors in Bankura. He cautioned that if the ongoing protests prevent patients from receiving treatment, it could provoke public anger, and he would not protect doctors from potential consequences if such situations arise.

Chakraborty was heard expressing concerns that people may become enraged if they are unable to access medical care due to the protests. He emphasized that while he supports the doctors' demands, it is crucial for them to consider the impact on patients. The MP also threatened opposition parties, stating that TMC workers might take action if they make disparaging remarks about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

On Sunday, a protest in Bankura called for justice for the victim in the RG Kar case. Chakraborty and the district organizational president attended the demonstration, noting that the agitation has disrupted services for the past ten days, causing inconvenience to the public.

In response to the protests, opposition parties, including the BJP and CPI(M), have demanded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation. BJP state president and Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar announced plans to approach the court and hold demonstrations from August 20 to August 23. The BJP will also conduct an inspection of the Health Department as part of their protest activities.
