The Supreme Court did not stay the Explusion of Mahua Moitra

Expelled TMC MP Mahua Moitra has not gotten relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the disqualification of the MP. A decision will be taken after a detailed hearing, sources said. The next hearing is in the third week of March. The Solicitor General was seen questioning whether the judiciary has any jurisdiction to interfere in the decisions taken by Parliament. The Supreme Court said it would look into the matter.

On Wednesday, the top court, after hearing arguments on the plea seeking disqualification of Moitra as an MP, asked the secretary general of the lower house of parliament to file a reply within two weeks. The court fixed March 11 as the next date of hearing in the case. Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Trinamool Congress leader Moitra Moitra, had sought that the date be extended to February. However, the request was not accepted. The case will be heard again on March 11. Till then, Mahua's plea for interim relief did not materialise. That is, Mahua did not get any relief temporarily.

On Wednesday, Moitra's lawyer told the apex court that the TMC leader was expelled from the Lok Sabha only for sharing her login ID in Parliament. The allegations of questioning the money said that the matter should be looked into. "I have been expelled even though there is no rule regarding giving passwords to anyone. "This has been done on the basis of a complaint filed by an MP. Although there were many inconsistencies, I was not allowed to ask counter-questions.''

Meanwhile, Moitra's lawyer admitted that the TMC leader had shared the login ID of Parliament. Mahua had earlier admitted this publicly. "You hereby admit that the OTP was given to Mr. Hiranandani," the bench observed. To which Mahua's lawyer replied, "Yes." As many MPs do with their representatives,''

Moitra's lawyer also claimed that important witnesses were not summoned before she was expelled. There were a lot of inconsistencies in the process by which she was expelled. "Through a letter full of inconsistencies, Jai Anant Dehdrai tried to cover up the fact that I was in a relationship with him. On Wednesday, Moitra told the Supreme Court that the logic on which she was expelled was baseless.

However, Mahua did not get any relief from that. The Supreme Court has not yet responded to the stay petition on the decision to dismiss the MP. In this case, only the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha has been asked to respond.

It should be noted that on December 8, his parliamentary position was dismissed. Mahua was disqualified as a member of Parliament months before the Lok Sabha elections for allegedly questioning the Adani Group about money from the Hiranandani Group and sharing his ID password in Parliament. The ethics committee recommended his expulsion. Then Mahua's parliamentary position was rejected by a voice vote.
