The Telangana government is stepping up preparations for the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, scheduled for December 7–9 at Bharat Future City near Hyderabad. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu are overseeing the arrangements, with the government putting in place a wider administrative and coordination system rather than treating the summit as a one-off investment event. The summit is also being linked to Telangana’s long-term goal of building a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Administrative setup and monitoring
The government has formed 10 committees headed by senior officials to handle different aspects of the summit, including logistics, investor outreach, finances and publicity. These committees will work under executive councils headed by ministers. A dedicated war room at Praja Bhavan has also been set up to track preparations. Officials are holding daily evening reviews covering infrastructure work, invitations to international investors and coordination between departments.
The Congress government is also reviewing MoUs signed at earlier investment summits. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has called for a detailed assessment of how many of those commitments actually moved from paper to implementation. The exercise is aimed at getting a clearer picture of investment progress and improving accountability.
Bharat Future City at the centre
Bharat Future City has been chosen as the venue, tying the summit closely to Telangana’s larger plans for the emerging development corridor. The proposed 30,000-acre greenfield project is being developed around the idea of a smart, sustainable urban centre. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to unveil the Future City Master Plan during the summit. The plan, prepared by Singapore-based Surbana Jurong, includes dedicated zones for sectors such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, life sciences and advanced healthcare.
The summit infrastructure is also being designed with long-term use in mind. The conference and seminar facilities, with configurations of up to eight halls, are being built on the Young India Skills University campus. The idea is to ensure that facilities created for the summit can continue to serve the university after the event.
Defence, AI and start-ups in focus
The summit is also being planned around specific sectors rather than focusing only on Telangana’s traditional strengths in IT and pharmaceuticals. A key attraction will be the Raksha Expo 2026, an aerospace, defence and space-focused event featuring drone demonstrations, autonomous systems and opportunities for MSME suppliers. The government hopes to use Hyderabad’s existing defence and aerospace ecosystem to attract more global partnerships. Artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure will be another major focus. The sector is expected to showcase high-computing infrastructure, smart mobility and data-centre projects. Among the major investments being highlighted are TCS’s proposed ₹70,000-crore HyperVault project, including a 1 GW AI data centre, and Amazon Web Services’ reported expansion of its data infrastructure. The startup segment will bring together T-Hub, T-Works and WE-Hub, with a dedicated showcase aimed at connecting start-ups with global investors. Deep-tech and green-energy ventures are expected to receive particular attention.
Global outreach and Telangana branding
The government is also giving considerable importance to international outreach ahead of the summit. Roadshows and diplomatic meetings are being used to attract business delegations and investors from key global markets. At the same time, Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has stressed the need to showcase Telangana’s culture and arts at the venue. The idea is to give international visitors an experience that goes beyond a conventional business conference and reflects the state’s identity. Recent diplomatic engagements, including a meeting with Canada’s High Commissioner Chris Cooter, are part of the wider effort to bring international delegations to the summit. Overall, Telangana is using the December summit not just to announce new investments, but also to showcase Bharat Future City, its emerging industrial sectors and its broader economic plans. The key test will be how many of the investment commitments eventually translate into projects on the ground.
