In Andhra Pradesh, the script for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections feels like a done deal. The TDP-led NDA coalition is all set to take all four seats in the polls scheduled for June 18, 2026. The once-mighty YSRCP barely registers in the state assembly now, making the NDA’s victory more of inevitability than a contest.

The breakdown in the assembly tells the whole story. Out of 175 seats, the NDA commands an overwhelming 164—split between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with 135, Jana Sena Party (JSP) with 21, and BJP holding 8. YSRCP, under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is left with just 11. With the Rajya Sabha seats allocated by proportional representation and the single transferable vote system, there’s simply no path for YSRCP. They don’t have enough lawmakers to win even one seat. At this point, it’s more a matter of arithmetic than politics.

Within the NDA, seat-sharing talks wrapped up easily. TDP took three spots, while JSP picked up the fourth. The BJP, for its part, didn’t push for a Rajya Sabha berth this time, which kept things smooth among the allies.

NDA Candidates Filed Nominations

The alliance has already finalized and filed its nominations. For TDP, the picks include Sana Satish Babu—an established industrialist who’s been re-nominated; Bhashyam Ramakrishna, the man behind Bhashyam Educational Institutions; and Chintakayala Vijay, TDP’s state general secretary and son of the current assembly speaker Ayyanna Patrudu. JSP’s nominee is Lingamaneni Ramesh, another industrialist and the face for the sole JSP seat.

Alliance Unity Displayed During Nominations

Leaders from all three NDA parties—TDP, JSP, and BJP—showed up together for the nomination filing, sending a clear message of unity. AP TDP President Palla Srinivasa Rao summed up the mood, saying, “The decision on Rajya Sabha seats was unanimous. With our majority, our win is already certain.”

With nominations in, the only step left is the formal announcement. Expect all four NDA nominees to be declared Rajya Sabha MPs soon—capping off the coalition’s current stranglehold on Andhra Pradesh’s legislative power.
