Telangana state’s tableau is all set to participate in the celebrations of country’s 75th Republic Day in Delhi. Tableau is likely to highlight the theme - "Self-rule and spirit of statehood movement and protection of democracy".

After the long gap, the Telangana tableau will be displayed as part of the Vikasit Bharat theme on the Kartavya Path on January 26 in the 75th Republic Day parade. The tableau, which commemorates the many movements of the common public of the state against authoritarian policies, politics and feudal systems, will be part of the Republic Day celebrations.

After almost three years, the Telangana tableau was allowed by the Centre for the Republic Day celebrations at the initiative of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. After 2015 and 2020, the state is taking part in the parade of 2024 only.  Officials say that permission has also been granted for the Telangana tableau for the next two years.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi  on the importance of Telangana's participation in the Republic Day parade and sought permission for Telangana tableau. State's theme is- 'India - Mother of Democracy', it will highlight the significance of the armed struggle fought in the Telangana to protect the rights and democratic values of the people. State government is aiming to showcase through its tableau that this struggle is an integral part of preserving the country's democracy, regardless of who engaged in the armed struggle.

Sprit of Komuram Bheem, Ramji Gond & Chakali Ilamma

If we go into the pages of the history, there have been many people's movements against the autocratic policies, politics and feudal system in Telangana. Not only the history, present scenario also witnesses number of people's movements and struggles.

The country got independence from British rule in 1947. But the state was liberated from the Nizam's rule in 1948. In the history, there were many armed struggles were happened against the Nizam's rule and the atrocities of the Razakars. Many people lost their lives in the movements.  Komuram Bheem, Ramji Gond and Chakali (Chityala) Ilamma are some of them. Various agitations were held until Telangana became a separate state in 2014. The Republic Day tableau was designed to convey this spirit to the world.

The heroic struggles of Komaram Bheem, Ramji Gond and Chakali Ilamma had a great impact on the lives of the common people of the Telangana. Their struggles are reflected in folk art and literature. In the beginning of the 20th century, the heroic struggle of these revolutionaries for self-rule, restoration of people's democracy.

Komuram Bheem and Ramji Gond fought for the freedom of the state, dignity and rights of the Adivasi tribal. They adopted guerrilla warfare tactics in their own ways to achieve their objectives. Bheem raised slogan of 'Jal, Jangal, Zameen' (right over water, forest and land for tribal).

Chityala Ilamma, popularly known as Chakali Ilamma, fought against the exploitation of farmers and farm labourers by landlords. With unwavering determination and with the help of the marginalized communities, her spirit of movement gave the necessary courage to the common villagers by confronting the landlords.

The sacrifices of the Telangana’s brave warriors are an inspiration for the society and the future generations. Thier struggles for the preservation of democracy have laid the foundation for the protection of the rights of the marginalized sections of the present society, the promotion of democratic values and equal justice for all.

Republic day tableau of the Telangana will stand out for the state government's commitment to uphold the spirit of these freedom fighters and the values of democracy at the grassroots.
