Telangana government unveiled a special government recruitment and social welfare program for transgender individuals, where they will receive training and employment opportunities in traffic management. The government of the State has announced that this is the first recruitment program specifically for transgender individuals in the country.
According to the plan unveiled by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, transgender individuals will receive specialized training after being identified and hired to support the Hyderabad traffic police. During a meeting, the Chief Minister stated that the goal of the initiative is to tackle two important societal issues: providing jobs for the marginalized transgender community and addressing traffic management challenges in the city.
The goal of implementing transgender traffic support troops is to improve road management efficiency and provide secure government jobs for a marginalized community. The government is designing unique uniforms for transgender recruits, featuring individualized designs for these individuals. Following their training, the transgender soldiers will be stationed in Hyderabad.
