Can NEET-UG entrance test of medical courses be taken again? The Supreme Court on Monday made its stand clear on the case. A division bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Monday said it will examine the CBI report and deliver the final verdict.

But on Monday, the Supreme Court said that in some cases the court will accept discrepancies and order a re-examination. For this, the court asked the CBI to submit an interim inquiry report within 48 hours. The hearing will be held again next Thursday.

The National Testing Agency, the body that conducted the exam gave its opinion in the court against the re-examination. On Monday, a division bench of the Chief Justice dismissed the statement and said it should be seen whether the question paper has been leaked on social media.

If it had been, it could have spread. It cannot be said in advance that the questions are leaked before or after the commencement of the examination. The bench of the Chief Justice said it has to be seen how many people have benefited from the question verification. After seeing everything it is necessary to decide whether the test needs to be taken again or not.

It is to be noted that the Supreme Court does not want to delay the matter. The CBI may give its stand with regard to re-examination if it submits its report to the court on Thursday itself.

Over 23 lakh students nationwide who took the prestigious exam for medical admissions were impacted, according to the Supreme Court, which declared, that the cancellation of the undergraduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 in its entirety was a "extreme last resort".
