In a 190-run chase against Kings XI Punjab, the right-hander single-handedly kept Mumbai Indians in the game when other batters failed to score big. MI eventually lost the game by one run, despite Tendulkar's dominant 65.

In their maiden season, KTK faced Sachin, who hit 12 fours and three sixes to reach 100 not out off 66 balls. The Master Blaster hit his century on the final ball of the innings, bringing MI to 182/2. However, the total was insufficient, and KTK won by eight wickets with one over remaining.

Tendulkar had hit a magnificent 74 when he fell for the second wicket, putting MI on top. He had again depended on timing, hitting 11 fours and just one six.
