LDF MLA P V Anwar of Kerala has found himself in legal trouble following his controversial remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Anwar, while addressing an election gathering in Palakkad district on April 22, allegedly labeled Gandhi as a "fourth-grade citizen" and suggested that his DNA should be examined. Such remarks have sparked outrage and resulted in Anwar being booked under penal offences related to promoting enmity between different groups.
The case against Anwar was filed at the Nattukal police station on April 26, based on the directions of a magisterial court, following a complaint by advocate Baiju Noel Rosario. Anwar faces charges under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with promoting enmity between different groups, and Section 125 of the Representation of People Act
Anwar's comments came in response to Gandhi's criticism of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, questioning why Vijayan had not been interrogated or arrested despite various allegations against him. Vijayan later defended Anwar's remarks, stating that criticism against Gandhi was valid and that the Congress leader was not immune to scrutiny.
