Kerala BJP President K. Surendran on Friday, July 26, challenged the ruling Left government and the Congress-led opposition to an open discussion on the Union Budget 2024-25. This comes after both parties criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government for allegedly ignoring Kerala's needs.
Surendran highlighted that this budget allocated over Rs 3,000 crore for Kerala, a significant increase compared to the Rs 400 crore allocated during the UPA government. He pointed out substantial allocations for Central institutes in Kerala, dismissing the opposition's claims as baseless and uninformed.
Regarding railway development, Surendran noted that Rs 3,011 crore had been earmarked for various projects in the state. He called on critics to participate in a discussion on the budget to substantiate their claims.
The ruling Left government has announced a statewide protest, arguing that Kerala's Rs 24,000 crore package request was ignored and that the state received no mention in the budget. Surendran urged those dissatisfied to engage in an open debate to address their concerns.
