Kejriwal's Aide Bibhav Kumar Arrested in Maliwal's Assault Case

Delhi Police arrested Bibhav Kumar, former personal secretary to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday in connection with the assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal. Maliwal alleged Kumar attacked her at Kejriwal’s residence on May 14, slapping and kicking her in the chest and abdomen.

Following his arrest, Kumar was taken for a medical checkup and will be produced in Delhi's Tis Hazari court to record his statement before a magistrate. In an earlier email to Delhi Police, Kumar expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation and requested that his complaint against Maliwal also be considered.

National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma confirmed Kumar's arrest from Kejriwal’s residence. Sanjeev Nasiar, state president of the AAP legal cell, expressed concern over procedural issues, claiming they had not received a copy of the FIR and were being prevented from entering the Civil Lines police station.

On Friday, as part of their investigation, Delhi Police took Maliwal to the CM’s residence to recreate the crime scene. Her statement was also recorded before a magistrate at the Tis Hazari court.

In the FIR, Maliwal alleged that Kumar repeatedly hit her with full force, slapping and kicking her seven to eight times. She further claimed that despite informing Kumar she was menstruating and in pain, he continued the assault.

The incident has drawn significant attention, with Kumar's arrest marking a critical development in the ongoing investigation. The situation remains tense as both sides await further legal proceedings.
