Kejriwal Seeks 7-Day Bail Extension on Health Grounds

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed a new petition in the Supreme Court on Monday, requesting a seven-day extension of his interim bail due to health issues. The top court had initially granted him a 21-day temporary release on May 10 to allow him to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. However, the court restricted him from visiting his office or the Delhi Secretariat and from signing official documents unless the lieutenant governor's assent was necessary.

In his latest plea, Kejriwal cited significant health concerns, including a seven-kilogram weight loss and elevated ketone levels, suggesting potential symptoms of a serious condition. "Kejriwal lost 7 kg weight after arrest. Kejriwal's ketone level very high and there may be symptoms of some serious disease," the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said in a statement.

The petition highlighted the need for Kejriwal to undergo medical tests, arguing that the interim bail, set to expire on June 1, should be extended to facilitate these health evaluations.

This case is linked to allegations of corruption and money laundering in the development and implementation of the Delhi government's now-scrapped excise policy for 2021-22. Kejriwal's legal troubles continue to unfold as he seeks additional time to address his health concerns amidst the ongoing investigation.
