Aero India 2025 is captivating aviation enthusiasts with its diverse array of aircraft from across the globe. While the Indian Air Force mesmerizes spectators with aerial stunts at Yelahanka Air Force Station, the Indian Navy is offering a rare glimpse into its formidable air power, vital for safeguarding the nation’s expansive coastline and strategic maritime interests.

The Naval Air Arm, a key combat component of the Indian Navy, plays a crucial role in carrier-based strike missions, fleet air defense, maritime surveillance, and anti-submarine warfare. Operating extensively across the Persian Gulf, the Horn of Africa, and the Strait of Malacca, it actively engages in anti-piracy operations and joint naval exercises.

At this year’s Aero India, the Navy has put several of its aircraft on static display. Among them is the Kamov KM-31, a Russian-origin, all-weather helicopter designed for fleet air defense and airborne early warning. It stands out with its unique contra-rotating blade system, which eliminates the need for a tail rotor.

Also on display is the Sea King 42B, an all-weather, multi-role helicopter used for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, as well as search and rescue missions. Sharing the spotlight is the MH-60R Seahawk, a state-of-the-art US-origin helicopter capable of conducting diverse naval operations.

Representing the fixed-wing fleet is the MiG-29K, the Navy’s premier carrier-based interceptor. Unlike its land-based variant, the MiG-29K is specially modified for aircraft carrier operations, featuring folding wings, an arrestor hook, and catapult attachments. This fighter jet operates from both INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya, reinforcing the Navy’s aerial dominance at sea.

Through its impressive display at Aero India 2025, the Indian Navy highlights the critical role of its aerial assets in ensuring maritime security and operational readiness.
