Horrible road accident in Assam, claimed lives of picnickers

A truck carrying coal collided with a bus in the Golaghat district of Assam on Wednesday, resulting in at least 12 fatalities and approximately 30 injuries. At Balijan, close to Dergaon, the bus and the truck collided head-on as it was travelling towards Upper Assam.

According to Golaghat Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh, there were forty-five persons on board the bus at the time of the collision. Twelve people have died in the accident so far. He stated, "The injured have been transported to a hospital.

Following the tragic road accident in Golaghat, Assam that claimed lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his condolences. He declared that each deceased person's next of kin would receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF, and the injured would receive Rs. 50,000.

Prominent law enforcement, road safety, and NHIDCL officials have been directed to visit the scene and evaluate the situation, Assam Transport Minister Suklabaidya announced in a post on X, expressing his sorrow over the deaths.
