The ruling DMK party in Tamil Nadu has announced its candidates for 21 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on April 19. The list includes prominent names like Kanimozhi, TR Baalu, and A Raja, along with 11 new faces. Additionally, three women, including sitting South Chennai MP Tamizhachi Thangapandian, have been nominated.

The party has allocated the remaining 18 seats to its allies, including the Congress, Left parties, and VCK. Along with announcing its candidates, the DMK also unveiled its manifesto for the polls, addressing various issues such as the appointment of Governors and the abolition of Article 356.

In its manifesto, the party pledged to involve states in the appointment of Governors, abolish Article 356, which allows the central government to dismiss a state government, and grant statehood to Puducherry. The manifesto reflects the DMK's commitment to addressing key concerns and promoting regional interests.
