This day has been declared Constitution Killing Day to pay tribute to the people and those who have suffered due to the gross abuse of power by the government during the emergency and to promise that the people of India will never have to support such mismanagement ever again.'
It is worth noting that the Indira Gandhi government did not face less controversy over the emergency. As soon as the emergency was declared, most of the media connections in Delhi were cut off that night. The white pages of the newspapers were published the next morning.

At that time, more than 100,000 people were arrested for opposing the government. Elections to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been called off.
