Congress Working Committee to approve manifesto for LS polls today

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet on Tuesday to discuss the party's plan for the Lok Sabha elections. The elections will happen in seven parts starting from April 19. The committee will also praise Rahul Gandhi's journey called 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra'. This journey started from Manipur on January 14 and ended in Mumbai on March 17.

The Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC), led by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, will also meet. They will decide on the rest of the candidates for the seven-part elections starting from April 19. The Congress had made a committee to write their plan for the Lok Sabha Election 2024. The head of this committee is TS Singh Deo, a former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Other members include Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, and Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who leads the Manifesto committee, said that the party's plan for the Lok Sabha polls will be a "people's plan". Party leaders got suggestions from the public through meetings and also through email and a website. The party also promised five things related to 'Shramik Nyay' and 'Hissedari Nyay'. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge promised to change the constitution to increase reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs to more than 50%. He also promised to do a census about social, economic, and caste matters.
