BJP MP Dilip Ghosh accused of violating Moral Code of Conduct

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) took action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dilip Ghosh after he made disrespectful comments about Mamata Banerjee's ancestry

TMC filed a complaint with the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer, accusing Ghosh of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). They urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to promptly address the issue and prevent Ghosh and other BJP members from making offensive remarks against the West Bengal Chief Minister.

Ghosh's remarks, which went viral in a video, sparked criticism from TMC leaders, who labeled them as misogynistic and disgraceful. In the video, Ghosh questioned Mamata Banerjee's loyalty by referring to her statements in Goa and Tripura. TMC leaders condemned Ghosh's behavior and accused him of stooping to new lows in political discourse.

Additionally, on March 23, the TMC filed a complaint against West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LOP) Suvendu Adhikari for allegedly spreading false and baseless statements on his social media handle. This move follows a pattern of the TMC actively pursuing actions against those who violate electoral norms.

Earlier in March, TMC MP Sanket Gokhale lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly violating the MCC. Gokhale alleged that PM Modi breached the poll code by using an Indian Air Force helicopter to attend an election rally in Andhra Pradesh. These incidents highlight the heightened political tensions and the importance of upholding electoral integrity during the electoral process.
