BJP state vice-president Shone George has alleged that extremist groups like the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Jamaat-e-Islami have infiltrated Church-led protest movements in Kerala. He claimed to have received credible intelligence confirming the presence of these groups in demonstrations held across Kannur, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Angamaly, Tiruvalla, and Mananthavady. These protests were held in response to the recent arrest of two Malayali nuns in Chhattisgarh.

George warned that the involvement of such groups—known for previously targeting Christian institutions—was not out of goodwill, and their sudden support for Church-led movements was suspicious. While stating that the BJP respects Church-led protests, he described the infiltration by radical elements as dangerous.

He further stated that the BJP, along with the Chhattisgarh government, maintained a neutral and humanitarian approach to the nuns’ arrest, which contributed to their release.

Targeting the Left government, George accused it of sidelining the Christian community. He recalled that during the EMS ministry, the state had submitted an affidavit suggesting Christians should not receive the same treatment as other minorities. He also criticized the current Pinarayi Vijayan government for removing mandatory Christian representation from the Minority Commission and for challenging a court verdict that called for minority scholarships to be distributed in proportion to population.

George drew attention to the swift implementation of the Paloli Committee report that benefited backward Muslim communities, while the J B Koshy report—commissioned to address issues faced by backward Christian sections—has not been released even after four years. He questioned whether the government had the courage to act on the report.

Declaring that Christians in Kerala would no longer remain politically tied to the Congress, George asserted that the BJP would continue to expose hidden agendas across political parties.
