Assam to become a Muslim majority state by 2041, predicts Himanta
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that the state is expected to have a majority of Muslim population by 2041.Body: There has been much discussion over Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's claim that the percentage of Muslims in the state has risen to 40%. In the midst of opposition parties debating against Sarma and pointing fingers and talking about fact-checking, Chief Minister Sharma went one step ahead, claiming that Assam would have a majority of Muslims by 2041.
He continued, "It's real; neither you nor I can stop it". He restated that you should find out for yourself if the number of Muslims rises by 22 lakh every ten years, and then what it indicates. The truth would be revealed.
When asked on what basis the chief minister talked about a 40% rise in the number of Muslims in the state, as census wasn’t done in 2021, he said, "This is not my data." That is based on India's census data. These are the data that has been released. You can find all the statistics on Google if you sit down and conduct thorough searches. That information is available.
According to the chief minister, in the 2011 census, Assam’s Muslim population was 36 percent, or 1.4 crore and 40 lakh. Every ten years, the population of Muslims increases by 29–30 percent, while the Hindu population increases by 16 percent. According to statistics, the number of Muslims increases by 22 lakh every ten years. From that point of view, there is no doubt that Assam will become a Muslim majority by 2041.
The Chief Minister also said that to see the evidence of this, it is necessary to go and stand in Muslim-dominated districts of Assam like Barpeta and Dhubri. Only then will one know whether the number of Muslims has increased or not.
