As to an official bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood situation in Assam has slightly improved, despite the fact that in the previous twenty-three hours, 12.33 lakh people have been affected and seven more people have died. On Friday, seven more persons lost their lives, bringing the total to 90 (just floods).
There have been five recorded deaths in the Goalpara district and one in each of the Jorhat and Nagaon districts. A small boat carrying roughly 20 people sunk into floodwaters at Simlitola under the Rongjuli police station in the Goalpara area on Thursday, killing five of them.
While visiting the accident scene and speaking with the grieving family, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma offered an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh for each victim's next of kin. According to Sarma, the accident occurred as the people were leaving after cremating Anjana Malakar.
There are 12,33,236 impacted individuals from 2,406 villages and 75 revenue circles spread across 24 districts. Cachar, Dhubri, Nagaon, Kamrup, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Nalbari, Barpeta, Dhemaji, Sivasagar, Goalpara, Jorhat, Morigaon, Lakhimpur, Karimganj, Darrang, Majuli, Biswanath, Hailakandi, Bongaigaon, South Salmara, Chirang, Tinsukia, and Kamrup (M) are the districts that are impacted.
The district most severely impacted by the flooding is Dhubri, with 3,18,326 residents, followed by Cachar, with 1,48,609 residents. The Brahmaputra, at Nimatighat, Tezpur, and Dhubri, Burhidihing, at Chenimari (Khowang), Disang, at Nanglamura Ghat, and Kushiyara, at Karimganj, are all flowing above the danger line.Up until Friday, 180 wild animals—ten of them rhinos—died in Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, according to park officials.
