In a ground-breaking judgement, US Court jailed a man Jordan Andrade (25) for 60 years for Telangana student's murder. The Telangana graduate student, Varun Raj Pucha, was brutally murdered by Jordan Andrade of the Porter Township, United States using a knife. On 29 October 2023, he assaulted Varun Raj Pucha as he was seated in the massage chair at Planet Fitness Gym in Valparaiso.

Varun, who was studying for his Master's in Computer Science at Valparaiso University, died from his injuries at a hospital in Fort Wayne.

Andrade was recently sentenced by the Indiana court, and he will be serving his time at the Indiana Department of prisons. It is still unclear if he will be referred for psychiatric care or if he will be incarcerated in a regular prison.

Varun hails from the Khammam district of Telangana. He only has a couple of months left to finish his degree. His father Pucha Ramamurthy works as a Teacher in a government school.

Jordan Andrade's parents conveyed profound sadness to Pucha's family. They regret that the victim's family isn't present for them to convey apologies. Jordan’s father Joe Andrade said that he was very familiar with his son, and he believes that Jordan would never have committed such an action.

Even though Jordan Andrade received a 60-year sentence, whether he will be sent to a conventional prison or a mental health facility will be decided by the Indiana Department of Correction following further evaluation.
