Sriram Krishnan, a renowned Indian-American entrepreneur and technology leader, has been appointed by US President-elect Donald Trump as the Senior White House Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence (AI). This key role underscores Krishnan's significant contributions to the tech industry and highlights his expertise in shaping the future of AI.

Krishnan will collaborate with David Sacks, the White House AI and Crypto Czar, to develop and coordinate AI policies for the Trump administration. In addition, he will work closely with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Announcing the appointment, Trump stated on Truth Social, "Sriram Krishnan will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across government."

Krishnan, born in Chennai, India, moved to the United States after completing his education. He has served in leadership positions at prominent tech companies such as Microsoft, Twitter, Facebook, and Yahoo!. As a founding member of Microsoft’s Windows Azure team, he contributed significantly to the growth of cloud computing technologies.

Beyond his professional achievements, Krishnan is also a venture capitalist, podcaster, and author. He co-hosted The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy, a podcast celebrated in the startup community for its insightful discussions on entrepreneurship.

Responding to his appointment, Krishnan expressed his gratitude, stating, "I’m honored to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI." The Indian-American community has warmly welcomed this announcement. Sanjeev Joshipura, executive director of Indiaspora, praised Krishnan’s expertise, noting, "His blend of public policy, international affairs, investing, and technology will serve the nation well in this critical role."
