Similar to the incident shown in the film Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway, another Indian woman fought for her kids before giving up and killing herself.
Priyadarshini Patil, an Australian lady of Indian descent who tragically committed herself last week, and her family's fight for custody of her two children have once again brought attention to child custody issues involving Indian or Indian-origin parents in foreign nations.
Ms. Patil was discovered deceased on August 27 in Belagavi, Karnataka. She fought for her children's custody for almost three years.
The problem occurred after Patil was accused of neglecting her children by Australian hospital officials. The government then had custody of her two kids. Patil then asked the Australian authorities to revoke her citizenship so she could bring her kids back to India for medical care.
Her requests went unanswered. Due to the Australian government's failure to return her child, Priyadarshini made the decision to end her life. Many are now calling for a discussion of the issue to be included in the G20 summit.
