Since President Joe Biden exited the 2024 presidential race in July, Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged as a formidable contender against former President Donald Trump. Harris has consistently climbed in various polls, showcasing a tight race leading up to the November election. The battle between the Democratic and Republican candidates has become a back-and-forth struggle, with different polls favoring one candidate over the other.

A recent Telegraph poll of swing states marked a significant turning point, predicting for the first time that Harris could come out on top in the November elections. The poll shows Harris widening the gap between her and Trump in key battlegrounds. According to a survey conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, Harris is projected to secure victories in critical states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan—states that were crucial to Biden's 2020 victory. In contrast, Trump is expected to dominate in Sun Belt swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, with both candidates tied at 47% in Nevada.

Additionally, the latest USA Today/Suffolk Poll indicated a potential Democratic win, with Harris leading Trump 48-43% ahead of the televised debate scheduled for September 10. This poll, conducted from August 25-28, surveyed 1,000 likely voters and reflects the momentum Harris gained following the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Another poll from The Economist, conducted on September 2, showed Harris supporters’ voting intention peaking at 48%, while Trump trailed at 45%. On a national level, the average of polls as of September 1, compiled by The Independent, suggests that Harris holds a +3.2 point lead over Trump, with Harris at 47.1% and Trump at 43.8%.

Notably, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted through August 27 revealed a decline in confidence among Trump supporters, with 31% expressing doubts about their choice, while only 18% of Harris supporters felt uncertain.

As the race progresses, these polls suggest that Harris is gaining ground, making the 2024 election one to watch closely.
