Several Kamala Harris banners were placed at Thulasendrapuram hamlet in Tamil Nadu after Joe Biden endorsed her as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for the forthcoming November elections. Following the announcement, residents in Tiruvarur district displayed many posters of her. Posters of US Vice President Kamala Harris were put up in her native hamlet Thulasendrapuram, in Tiruvarur district.

Kamala Harris was born to an Indian mother and a Jamaican father, both of whom were immigrants. PV Gopalan, her maternal grandpa, is a former diplomat who was born in the village.

Locals in several parts of the village in Tiruvarur district put up banners wishing Kamala Harris victory in the 2020 US presidential election. Locals held special prayers for success in the 2020 elections, when Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris as his running mate. The village had also hailed her triumph in the previous elections.

On July 21, Joe Biden announced his departure from the presidential race. In a post on X, Biden said, "My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and will devote all of my energies to my duties as President for the remainder of my term."

Biden stated it was the best decision to choose Harris as Vice President. My first decision as the party's 2020 contender was to appoint Kamala Harris as Vice President. And it's been the best move he has ever made.

In the same tweet, Joe Biden backed Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential contender. "Today, I would like to express my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be our party's nominee this year. Democrats, it's time to band together and defeat Trump. Let us do this," he wrote. In response, Kamala Harris expressed gratitude for his leadership and appreciated his endorsement.

"On behalf of the American people, I congratulate Joe Biden for his outstanding leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of dedication to our country. I am honored to have the President's support, and I want to earn and win this nomination. I will do everything in my ability to unite the Democratic Party - and our country - to defeat Donald Trump and his extremist Project 2025." - Kamala Harris posted on X. The US presidential election is set for November 5, 2024.
