Chopper transporting Iranian President crashed

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi crashed on Sunday, Iranian state television reported. However nothing has been said in detail from their side so far. Raisi was in the eastern Azerbaijan province of Iran.

State TV reported that the incident took place near the town of Jalpham, bordering Azerbaijan, about 600 kilometres (375 miles) northwest of Iran's capital Tehran. According to State TV, the rescuers tried to reach the spot but adverse weather in the area created hurdles.

There were reports of heavy rains accompanied by the wind. Raisi arrived in Azerbaijan on Sunday morning with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to inaugurate Mathauri The two countries have constructed a third dam on the Aras river.

It is to be noted that Iran has flown a variety of helicopters in the country but international sanctions have made it difficult to get its share. Its military air fleet is largely predates to the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

Iran has obstructed foreign inspections and nearly enriched uranium to weapon grade under the 63-year-old Raisi. Iran has aided Russia in the conflict against Ukraine and attacked Israel with drones and missiles while Hamas is fighting in the Gaza Strip.
