The much-anticipated comedy ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, is set to entertain audiences with its unique storyline and vibrant 90s setting. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for his hit film ‘Dream Girl,’ the movie promises to be a “pure masala entertainer” that will hit theaters on October 11.
The trailer, unveiled recently, kicks off with visuals from Vicky (Rao) and Vidya’s (Dimri) wedding in the picturesque city of Rishikesh. In a playful twist, Vicky suggests recording their wedding night, but chaos ensues when their CD player—and the recording—goes missing. Vijay Raaz plays a comically disinterested cop assigned to the case, whose motivation shifts when he encounters Mallika Sherawat’s captivating character, a relative of Vicky. Adding to the fun is legendary Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi’s iconic track “Na Na Na Re,” which perfectly complements the film's lively and humorous tone.
The trailer showcases a series of comedic mishaps, including suspicions of infidelity, witty dialogues, and a mysterious ransom call that leads Vicky and Vidya to a graveyard. One standout moment is Vicky’s humorous defense against his wife's suspicions: “Hum jaise middle class ladke date pe nahi, bhandaro pe jate hai” (Middle-class boys like us don’t go on dates, we go to community feasts).
The film’s marketing has cleverly played on 90s nostalgia, with the initial teaser featuring the lead actors as retro newsreaders in a Doordarshan-style broadcast, dubbing their movie ‘mahaparivarik’. Produced by T-Series, Balaji Telefilms, Wakaoo Films, and Thinkink Picturez, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is set to bring a fresh dose of laughter and nostalgia to the big screen this October.
