Ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela, the Yogi Adityanath government has announced a new district from Prayagraj. For which the Uttar Pradesh government is preparing for war. Prayagraj District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar has declared the Kumbh area as a temporary district for the Mahakumbh. With this, the number of districts in Uttar Pradesh is 76. The new district has been named Mahakumbh Mela.

A total of 67 villages, including the parade area, have been included in the Mahakumbh Mela district, the notification said. The number of people in the district has more than doubled compared to last year. According to the notification, Kumbh Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand will act as the collector of the Kumbh Mela. The notification also details that the collector of the Kumbh area will have the right to work in all departments.

According to the order, the administration has taken this step to form a new district for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela. However, it is not yet clear whether it is a permanent district or a temporary administrative arrangement for the Kumbh Mela. However, according to sources, the district has been formed on the occasion of the fair. There is no mention of this in government guidelines.

However, the Mlea officer will serve as the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, and Executive Magistrate in the new district. According to the Uttar Pradesh Prayagraj Mela Board Act, 2017, the Mela Officer is an officer appointed by the State Government. In addition, an administrative team will always be ready to supervise and maintain the preparations during the fair in the newly created district. After the formation of the Mahakumbh Mela district, the number of districts in Uttar Pradesh has increased to 76. The new district consists of four subdivisions and 67 villages of Prayagraj. These include 25 villages in Sadar subdivision, 3 villages in Soraon subdivision, 20 villages in Phulpur subdivision, and 19 villages in Karchana subdivision.

The Mahakumbh Mela is held in Prayagraj every 12 years. The fair is set to begin in January 2025. The fair will run from January 13 to February 26 next year. Many devotees from home and abroad come to this fair. Preparations are already underway.
