There’s genuine excitement in the Indian film industry these days. Everyone is abuzz about "Maa Vande: The Anthem of a Mother," a biopic centering on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film isn’t just ambitious—it’s smashing records, with an unprecedented budget of ₹400 crore, making it the most expensive biopic in Indian cinema history.

“Maa Vande: The Anthem of a Mother",  which began filming in December 2025 and will cover Narendra Modi's life from his early years to his political career, focusing on his determination and journey, with production aiming for a large-scale, pan-Indian release.

Leading the cast is Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan. Fresh from his recent success with Marco, he now faces the challenge of portraying Modi. The film was announced on Modi’s 75th birthday, and since then, the crew has completed their first filming schedule. Next, they’re off to Kashmir for the next phase, starting January 22.

A Technical Marvel by Silver Cast Creations

This biopic isn’t your typical film—it’s a technical marvel. Producer M. Veer Reddy and Silver Cast Creations are targeting international standards. For the first time anywhere, the team is employing the ARRI Alexa 265 camera paired with Cooke lenses. And that’s not all—rumour has it they’ve approached Jason Momoa (Aquaman himself) for a significant role, hoping to elevate the film’s international appeal.

The Creative Powerhouse

The cast is impressive. Alongside Unni Mukundan are veteran actors like Raveena Tandon (Bollywood), Jagapathi Babu (Tollywood), and Sarath Kumar (Kollywood), all of whom signed on after hearing the script.

Behind the camera, director Kranthi Kumar CH has invested nearly three years in pre-production, determined to perfect every element. The technical team is a who’s-who of Indian cinema: cinematography by K.K. Senthil Kumar (of Baahubali and RRR), music by Ravi Basrur (KGF, Salaar), set design by Sabu Cyril (Robot, Baahubali), editing by Sreekar Prasad (RRR, Ponniyin Selvan), and action choreography by King Solomon (KGF).

Politics and All..

The film isn’t just about politics or Modi’s journey from humble origins to global leadership. At its heart, "Maa Vande" explores his profound bond with his late mother, Heeraben Modi. The tagline—"The Anthem of a Mother"—captures it perfectly. The story suggests a mother’s strength can shape the fate of a nation. For Unni Mukundan, who grew up in Ahmedabad and has met Modi personally, this role is far more than just another assignment. He describes it as “overwhelming yet deeply inspiring”—an opportunity to reveal the human side of a leader many think they know.

"Maa Vande" is pulling out all the stops for its release. The film is slated for a massive Pan-India and global launch, available in Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, and Marathi. The movie aims to share its story of resilience and the spirit of "Viksit Bharat" with audiences everywhere.
