The upcoming horror sequel, Smile 2, has released its first official clip, giving fans a chilling preview of what’s to come. In the scene, Naomi Scott’s character, Skye Riley, stands before a mirror, only to be haunted by a bloodied figure mimicking her movements. The clip ends with a terrifying jump scare as the figure forces Riley to smile, offering a taste of the unsettling horror the film promises.

Smile 2 is a follow-up to 2022’s surprise hit Smile, which grossed $217.4 million worldwide on a modest $17 million budget. The original film’s success, both critically and commercially, has fueled anticipation for the sequel. Directed once again by Parker Finn, the sequel brings back Kyle Gallner as Joel, the only returning cast member from the first film. Joel’s character witnessed the horrifying final moments of Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) in Smile, and his return suggests that the curse of the sinister smile will continue in the sequel.

Joining Naomi Scott and Gallner are Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, and Ray Nicholson, among others. The plot centers on Skye Riley, a global pop star preparing for a world tour, who begins experiencing terrifying events linked to her dark past. As the evil entity from the original film returns, Skye must confront her trauma before it consumes her.

The marketing for Smile 2 has already captured attention with a stunt at a recent concert, where an image of a maniacal face appeared without explanation, heightening audience anticipation. This follows a similar eerie promotion at a baseball game.

While the plot mirrors the first film, focusing on a protagonist dealing with trauma and a curse that forces its victims to smile before killing themselves, Smile 2 aims to deliver more of the chilling visuals and psychological horror that made the original a hit. The film is set to release in theaters on October 18, 2024.
