Science-fiction Story of 2898 AD

Prabhas and Nag Ashwin (The film is written and directed by Mahanati fame - Nag Ashwin) join forces for a period science-fiction film Kalki 2898 AD. The film's ensemble cast includes Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama, an immortal character from ancient Indian epic “Mahabharata.” Kamal Haasan plays the antagonist, Supreme Yaskin.

This ambitious project, blending elements of mythology and science fiction, promises a unique cinematic experience. Headlined by Prabhas alongside stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan portraying Ashwatthama, the film unfolds in the futuristic realm of Kasi in 2898 AD. Rs 600 Cr Budget Movies Ignite Curiosity

With a reported budget of approximately Rs 600 crore and a runtime of 181 minutes, Kalki 2898 AD released in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Despite a quieter promotional run compared to recent blockbusters like RRR, teasers, trailers, and behind-the-scenes glimpses managed to ignite curiosity among cinema fans.

Plot of the Movie

Going into the movie's plot, Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) runs the world, Complex, which is for the elite. The other world is full of poverty and slaves that are starving for food. His lieutenant Commander Manas (Saswata Chatterjee) is running a lab for fertile women and experiments on their foetus. Sumati (Deepika Padukone) is the only pregnant woman who survives and escapes from the lab. She is rescued by the Shambala people who are rebels. Sumati is believed to be carrying God in her womb. She is protected by Ashwathama (Amitabh). The only ambition of Bhairava (Prabhas) is to become rich to live in Complex. He decides to bring back Sumati to evil people for bounty.
