Samantha Ruth Prabhu has responded sharply to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha's controversial claim linking her divorce with Naga Chaitanya to political conspiracy. The actress, who finalized her divorce in 2022, issued a strong statement asking the minister to keep her personal life out of political battles.
In a social media post, Samantha clarified that her divorce was a mutual and amicable decision, dismissing any political involvement. “My divorce is a personal matter, and I request that you refrain from speculating about it. To be clear, it was a mutual and amicable decision, with no political conspiracy at play," she said. She also urged Surekha to act responsibly as a public figure, emphasizing the challenges women face in the film industry and the courage required to navigate personal and professional challenges in the spotlight.
Minister Konda Surekha had earlier alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) was involved in Samantha’s divorce, claiming he manipulated actresses for political gain. These remarks sparked a backlash from several quarters, including Samantha’s former father-in-law, actor Nagarjuna, who condemned the use of celebrity lives for political attacks.
Naga Chaitanya also responded, calling the divorce “a mutual decision made in peace” and condemning the baseless rumors surrounding it. He criticized the minister’s comments as “false and unacceptable.”
Amid growing criticism from industry leaders like Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, and Allu Arjun, Konda Surekha issued an apology to the actors and their families, retracting her statements about the divorce but maintaining her accusations against KTR.
KTR has since sent a defamation notice to the minister, accusing her of engaging in “disgusting and nauseating politics.”
This public spat has sparked widespread discussion on the importance of privacy and respect for personal decisions in the lives of public figures.
