On Monday, India's Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Chandrasekhar, responded angrily to the viral "deepfake" film that was directed at actress Rashmika Mandanna on social media.

 According to Chandrasekhar, the government of Prime Minister Modi ji is dedicated to upholding the security and confidence of every "Digital Nagrik" utilising the internet in accordance with the IT regulations announced in April 2023.

Platforms where they are required to make sure that no user posts false information. The minister stated in his post on X that platforms must make sure that misinformation is removed within 36 hours of being reported by users or the government. If they don't, rule 7 will come into effect, and the offended party may take the platform to court using the IPC's provisions.

 A "deepfake" video that went viral on social media featured actress Rashmika Mandanna's face and showed her entering a lift. The original footage features social media personality Zara Patel, which makes the video misleading. The actress Rashmika Mandanna's visage was digitally altered and utilised in the video.

When the video went viral on social media, many people demanded that the makers of the phoney videos take legal punishment. Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who will star in Rashmika Mandanna's upcoming Bollywood film Goodbye, also reposted the video and emphasised the need for new laws.
