Many people were shocked to learn of the death of their beloved Matthew Perry on Sunday morning. Perry was most known for playing Chandler Bing in the iconic television comedy "Friends." The actor's body was discovered in a hot tub. 54 was his age. "We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry," said Warner Bros. TV, the company behind the Friends television series.
Everyone who is familiar with him as "Chandler Bing" is also aware of his difficulties in real life. While filming FRIENDS, in which he portrayed a humorous and wise-cracking figure, he battled addiction. In his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, he talked candidly about his health. Matthew had endured fourteen major abdominal surgeries and had previously taken over fifty prescription painkillers.
Strangely, the actor was purportedly photographed in a hot tub for his most recent Instagram image. He was lounging in the warm water beneath the moon in the picture, which was uploaded on October 23. In a characteristically humorous caption, he said, "Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman. Matthew Perry referred to himself as "Mattman" a lot. His references to Batman were frequently noticed by fans, who even speculated that he would appear in a later movie.
NBC, which aired Friends from 1994 to 2004, said in a statement, “We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry. He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations.”
Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, and Courteney Cox were also featured in Friends. Chandler Bing, who was adored for his cynicism and dry sense of humor, was portrayed by Matthew Perry.
