
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, special attention was given to the budget for the middle class in the country. In this context, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of new housing projects for the middle class in the budget.
During the presentation of the budget proposal, Nirmala Sitharaman said in parliament, “Our government will launch a housing project to help the middle class. All middle-class people who live in rented houses, settlements, or unauthorized colonies can buy or build their own houses; this project will be implemented for them.”
The budget document shows that the Prime Minister's housing scheme (rural and urban) has been increased in the financial year 2024–25. The government's allocation for this project was Rs. 79,590 crore last year. This year, it has been increased to Rs. 80,671 crore. In this regard, in the budget speech, the Prime Minister demanded an additional 2 crore houses to be built under the Prime Minister's housing scheme. Earlier, on Independence Day 2023, the Prime Minister announced a housing project for the middle class form the Lal Qila.
It should be noted that the Prime Minister launched the housing scheme for the city in 2015. On the other hand, Nirmala made a big announcement about electricity today. The finance minister said that one crore households will have solar panels installed. Electricity will be provided free of charge for up to 300 units per month. Electricity bills will be reduced by Rs 15,000–18,000 per year.
In addition, Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman claimed that development would come in the next five years. That will put India ahead in 2047. It will be a golden age. Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also claimed that the status of India's economy is good.
