Bambrew, a startup focused on sustainable packaging, has recently secured Rs 60 crore in funding through a combination of equity and debt in its Series A round. The funding was led by Blume Ventures, with participation from Blue Ashva Capital, Mumbai Angels, Indus Capital, and notable angel investors including Sreevathsa (Servify), Mandeep (Cashify), and R K Narayan (President, Horizon Industrial Parks).

This capital infusion will fuel Bambrew's expansion into primary packaging for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and food and beverages (F&B) product categories. Additionally, it will be utilized to enhance manufacturing capabilities and bolster the research and development team. According to Vaibhav Anant, co-founder of Bambrew, the company has already made significant strides in sustainability by saving over 60,000 tonnes of single-use plastic and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 125,000 tonnes.

Bambrew plans to diversify its offerings across various forms of primary packaging and expand its geographical presence with the newly acquired funds. Since its inception in 2019, Bambrew has achieved remarkable growth, reportedly growing 100-fold. The company operates from a state-of-the-art facility spread across three acres, equipped with a world-class research and development laboratory focusing on developing new materials, processes, and products.

Arpit Agarwal, a partner at Blume Ventures, likened the rise of sustainable packaging solutions to the growth of electric vehicles catalyzed by FAME-II subsidies. He emphasized the importance of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations in driving the demand for circular economy companies like Bambrew.

Bambrew's commitment to sustainability is reflected in its products, which are certified by the Government of India and the Central Pollution Control Board as plastic-free, compostable within 130 days, and biodegradable in soil, home, and industrial composting environments. The company boasts an impressive client roster, including prominent names like Amazon, Nykaa, MyGlamm, Bata, Snitch, Harris Brushes, and Mahindra, among others.
