Mohammad Shami Resumes Bowling

Bowling has returned for Mohammed Shami, who hasn't played since the 2015 ODI World Cup because of surgery on his right tendon. While he waits for confirmation of his homecoming date, his boyhood coach is upbeat about his chances of rejoining the Indian squad.

Since the conclusion of the most recent ODI World Cup in November 2023, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been absent from the team, skipping all cricket-related events, such as the upcoming T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League. But according to a recent source, Shami has resumed bowling and might perhaps soon return to the Indian squad. The experienced bowler, who underwent surgery in February for his injured right tendon, is reportedly receiving treatment in Bengaluru from NCA Strength and Conditioning Coach Rajnikanth and Head of Sports Science Dr Nitin Patel.

Shami, the Indian pacer, has resumed bowling, and although he isn't quite back to his best just yet, he can release the ball in the nets with ease, according to a News18 article that quotes Badruddin, his boyhood coach. "Shami is now a bowler. Though not fully extended or at maximum speed, he has begun to release the ball into the nets without experiencing any pain. The fact that bowling activities have started is encouraging. News18 was told by Badrauddin.

Badrauddin even offered his opinion on Shami's prospects of playing again for the Blues, stating that if the pacer gets going, we may know more about when he would return. "He will undoubtedly return in India colors very soon. The post and the videos on social media would have allowed you to witness the advancements he has been making. He is putting a lot of effort into his efforts, but more information will become clear when bowling resumes at full speed and how the body responds," Badrauddin continued. The News18 story implies that BCCI will proceed with extreme caution when it comes to re-integrating Shami into the team, citing yet another reliable source.
