Why did Himanta give the communal tag to the INC?

The recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, show that the Congress has turned into a party that is exclusively focused on Muslims.

Nevertheless, Sarma stated that the Congress will not disappear for a century unless there is a seat such as Dhubri, where the population is expected to increase by 29% over the next ten years.

“This election has exposed Assam's future. I repeat it all the time: Badaruddin Ajmal is an idol. We see Badaruddin Ajmal and Rakibul Hussain as one person”,  Sarma said in a media interview that other leaders are now adopting the same political stance as Badaruddin Ajmal.

Though we witnessed the opposite outcome in this election, they refer to us as a communal party. There was not a single vote in favour of the BJP in a Muslim seat. Congress received the Muslim votes from the AIUDF. Nowadays, Congress has become a political party supported by 100 percent Muslims.

"We previously stated that the AIUDF was communal; however, all votes were directed at Congress this time," he continued. In Assam, there is just one communal party: the Congress. In Dhubri, Barpeta, and Nagaon, votes were not casted for independent candidates. Furthermore, AIUDF was not successful in garnering votes in certain places. This led to a polarization of the election. However, he went on, Hindus exhibited a secular perspective by voting for all political parties.
